LokKatha is an independent, non-commercial project dedicated to documenting India's supernatural and folkloric traditions. It has no affiliation with any academic institution, religious body, government organisation, or media outlet. It is maintained by a single creator as a cultural preservation effort.

The entity records and case accounts on LokKatha are presented for cultural, educational, and entertainment purposes only. They draw from a mixture of oral accounts, archival sources, reconstructed narratives, and illustrative compositions — including content that has been written or assisted by AI in the spirit of the tradition.

LokKatha does not claim that any case record represents a verified factual event. Classification labels (Sourced, Reconstructed, Folkloric, Illustrative) indicate the origin of content, not its factual accuracy. Do not treat this archive as a source of documentary truth, investigative journalism, or scholarly citation without independently verifying primary sources.

Nothing on LokKatha constitutes medical, psychological, religious, spiritual, or legal advice. If you are experiencing distress — including distress you attribute to a supernatural cause — please seek appropriate professional support.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to purchase a subscription or make a donation. By creating an account you confirm you meet the applicable age requirement.

LokKatha offers optional user accounts. By creating an account you also agree to:

• Provide accurate information during registration (display name, email address).
• Keep your login credentials confidential. You are solely responsible for all activity under your account.
• Not create accounts using another person's identity or contact details.
• Not share, sell, or transfer your account to another person.
• Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

Your account profile may include a display name, avatar, and basic account details visible to you in the account section. This information is not publicly displayed unless explicitly noted in a specific feature. LokKatha reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive conduct, or remain inactive for an extended period.

You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us. Account deletion removes your profile data; transaction records, subscription records, and comment history may be retained where required for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Registered users may post comments on archive entries. By submitting a comment you agree that:

• Your comment is your own original expression and does not infringe any third-party rights.
• Comments must not contain hate speech, harassment, defamation, obscenity, unsolicited promotional content, or content that targets individuals or communities.
• You grant LokKatha a non-exclusive licence to display, moderate, edit, or remove your comment at any time without notice.
• Comments do not represent the views of LokKatha, its creator, or the archive.

LokKatha may moderate comments before or after publication. Comments that violate these terms will be removed without notice. Repeated violations may result in account suspension or termination. If you believe a comment violates these terms, contact us at [email protected].

LokKatha offers paid subscription plans ("Membership") that provide access to additional archive features. By subscribing you agree to:

• Pay the subscription fee applicable to the plan you select at the time of purchase.
• Provide accurate billing information. You are responsible for any taxes applicable in your jurisdiction.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
• Membership benefits are personal and non-transferable. Sharing access with others is not permitted.
• LokKatha reserves the right to modify, restrict, or discontinue subscription features with reasonable notice.

Subscription payments are processed through Razorpay. LokKatha does not store your card number, UPI credentials, bank credentials, CVV, OTP, or other sensitive payment instrument details. Razorpay processes these under its own policies.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to membership features until that date. Subscription refunds are governed exclusively by the Refund Policy.

When you submit a request via the Contribution Gate, you provide your name, email address, and content details. By submitting you confirm:

• You have the right to share the information provided.
• The submission does not violate any third-party rights.
• You grant LokKatha permission to use, edit, translate, or decline the submission for archival purposes.

Submissions are reviewed before publication and may be declined, edited, reclassified, or held indefinitely at the creator's discretion. Submission does not guarantee inclusion.

By subscribing to the LokKatha newsletter you provide your name and email address and consent to receive periodic emails about archive updates, newly documented entities, and curator notes.

• You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in every issue.
• We will not use your email for any purpose other than sending the newsletter.
• We do not share subscriber data with third parties except where required to deliver email.

LokKatha may accept voluntary donations to support archive hosting, maintenance, research, audio work, and related operating costs. Donations are processed through Razorpay and are not a purchase of goods, services, memberships, subscriptions, ownership rights, editorial control, or guaranteed publication.

• You are responsible for providing accurate donor and payment information.
• A receipt is sent after Razorpay marks the payment as successful and LokKatha verifies the payment signature.
• Successful donations are final and non-refundable.
• Failed, cancelled, or unverified payment attempts do not create a successful donation record.
• If money is deducted for a failed or cancelled attempt, eligible refunds are normally processed within 3-5 business days after confirmation.

Original writing, curation, design, and structure of LokKatha belongs to the creator. Source material drawn from public domain texts remains in the public domain and is credited where known.

You may quote or reference LokKatha content with clear attribution. You may not reproduce substantial portions, mirror the archive, or repackage content in ways that misrepresent it as factual reporting, original research, or your own work.

LokKatha uses PostHog to collect behavioural data — page views, interaction events, and session recordings (with all form inputs masked). For anonymous visitors, no personal data is linked to this. For logged-in account holders, PostHog links your email, display name, and subscription tier to your analytics profile. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

You agree not to:

• Scrape, bulk-download, or mirror the archive for commercial purposes.
• Use content to harass, defame, or target individuals or communities.
• Present LokKatha content as verified fact in contexts where that distinction matters.
• Attempt to access administrative systems, other users' accounts, or infrastructure.
• Use automated tools to create accounts, post comments, or interact with the archive at scale.
• Circumvent or abuse the subscription or membership system.

LokKatha is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. The creator is not liable for decisions made based on content in the archive, for the accuracy of user-submitted content, for the conduct of other users, or for any outcomes arising from use of this site. The archive may be updated, restructured, or taken offline at any time without notice.

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from your use of LokKatha or these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India. If you access LokKatha from outside India, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws.
